Motor Vehicle Accident
West Smithfield Street
Shortly after 3 am on Sunday October 16th, crews were dispatched
for a vehicle on its side on West Smithfield Street in Lincoln Borough. Engine
184, Rescue 183, Rescue 147, Ambulance 610, and Medic 520 were dispatched. Station
184 had Rescue 147 stand-by in station due to reports by police that no driver
or passengers were at the scene. Engine 184 arrived on scene to find a SUV on
its side next to the guardrail leaking some fuel. At that point Command 184 released
Rescue 147 and had Rescue 183 proceed to the scene to assist with cleanup.
The
driver was found by Versailles police, who assisted Lincoln police, further down
West Smithfield. The driver was walking to find somewhere to call for assistance.
Apparantly
the driver was coming up West Smithfield Street, and 2 deer appeared on the roadway,
causing him to swerve and lose control.
Crews cleared after the fluids were cleaned
up and the vehicle was towed away. The driver signed a refusal and was uninjured
in the accident.
