Residential Structure Fire - Follansbee,
WV (05/13/2007)
May 13th, 2007 - Brooke County, Follansbee, WV - On Sunday
May 13th at around 2230 hours Brooke County WV 911 received a call for a possible
structure fire on Piper Lane. City of Follansbee Fire/Rescue Station 4 and Hooverson
Heights Fire Dept. Station 8 were dispatched on the call. Follansbee Police were
first on scene and reported a fully involved structure. Follansbee Engine 4 arrived
on scene and stated they had a 2 1/2 story house with fire showing through the
roof on the 1 story part of the house. Follansbee Chief (Unit 46) took command.
Engine 4 Crew stretched an 1 3/4 land line to the interior to find that the fire
had not expended to the interior of the structure. A second line was extended
to the rear of the house and began extinguishment of the fire. There were no
injuries in the fire and all occupants escaped before the fire dept arrival.
The cause of the fire was determined to have been an electrical problem on the
exterior of the house near a pool heater and filter that were inside an enclosure
between the house and the deck. The fire was contained to the wall by the pool
heater and pump and the roof area of that section of the house. The ho,me also
recieved amoke and water damage. Brooke County EMS stood by at the scene until
released by Unit 46.
