If you are familar with Pa 66 as it comes out of the Ford City area there
is a hairpin bend with an old barn filled with all kinds of stuff. That was until
several weeks ago a large truck went straight through the barn instead of around
the corner. What looks like a storm or hurricane was actually caused by a large
truck whose door is still among the tangle. Luckily the driver was not seriously
injured and the barn only contained old items or this could have been a very
bad situation in deed.
A mobile home in nearby town of Avonworth was recently flattened by a small pickup
which went sailing off a road bend and landed on it. Still another accident happened
when a van went over a hill, killing a couple and ended up on railroad tracks
near the bottom and smashed by a train.
This is one of the problems when you drive in rural Armstrong or many rural counties.
Excessive speed combined with wet or bending roads or use of alcohol or losing
control from not paying attention will often land you in a ditch, a gulley, or
through a home. Its not like driving in the city and too many drivers do not
care to pay attention and pay the price.
