Firework Incident - Kiski Twp (07/04/2006)

Unknown individuals broke through a barrier around Directional Tower #2 at christian music station WAVL 910 AM, a 5000 watt Class A station in Kiski Twp,Armstrong County PA. The individuals unknowingly exposed themselves to RF radiation which could have detrimental effects on their health, after they placed a large amount of fire works around the base and threw some into the towers latice work which fused the towers spark gap unit and knocked the station off the air, which set off remote monitoring equipment notifying Chief Engineer Nick Markowtz Jr. He responded and found the damage. Since WAVL is licensed under the FCC and is under the umbrella of the US Dept of Home Land Security Federal agents will be investigating the incident and federal felony charges including arson and explosives violations could be charged against the intruders. The individuals also need to see a physcian and be checked to make sure the RF radiation did not harm them as they could lose eyesight as well as suffer from cancer and other illness.
