Structure Fire - City of Duquesne (3/18/05)
Duquesne,
PA - Two houses and an apartment building in the City of Duquesne were
destroyed by fire Friday evening.
The fire
was reported shortly after 5pm Friday. Officials arrived on-scene at the intersection
of Viola and Fifth Streets to find a wood frame dwelling well involved. Within
minutes an exposure was also engulfed. The two houses were completely destroyed
by the flames. (Story Continued Below..)
An apartment
building on the Sector 4 side of the original fire building was later ravaged
by fire. The fire spread through the two-story occupied building in a matter
of minutes. All crews inside the building were evacuated and an external attack
was started. the Sector 2 side of the apartment building collapsed into the street.
Luckily, no one was seriously injured.
The Allegheny
County Fire Marshal was on scene trying to determine how the blaze started. As
of now, the cause is still a mystery.
