Apartment Fire - Ross Township (5/15/2003)

At around 9:43pm, a Ross/West View EMS unit reported they could see and smell smoke in the area of Northway Mall. Berkeley Hills Station 247 and Ross Fire Police Station 254 were dispatched to investigate. Approximately 35 minutes later, crews found smoke and fire coming from the 4th floor of a building at Northway Apartments. First Alarm assignment was dispatched including: Perrysville Station 248, Highland Station 186, Etna Station 149 RIT, Ross Fire Marshal and Ross/West View EMS. The fire was under control at 10:55pm but not after one person lost his life in the fire. West View Station 297 assisted with their air truck and McCandless-Franklin Park EMS assisted with an additional Medic Unit. Allegheny County Police - Homicide Detectives, Allegheny County Coroner and Ross Township Fire Marshal were investigating the blaze.
