Structure Fire - Findlay Township (3/25/2003)

Just after 10:00 PM on March 25th 2003 the Imperial VFD (station 152) was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 100 block of Craig Street in Findlay Twp. Upon dispatch, 152 C-1 (Chief Steele) requested mutual aid from the North Fayette Twp. VFD (station 209).  The first arriving units found a single story residential structure with moderate to heavy fire venting from the roof on side "B" of the structure.  Crews from 152 & 209 placed multiple attack lines in operation while 209 Engine 4 laid a 5-inch supply line from a hydrant several hundred feet down the street. Interior crews pulled ceilings to get access to the fire.  The fire was under control in approx. 20 minutes.  The bulk of the fire was contained to the attic/roof area while the remainder of the house sustained water and smoke damage.  The fire started in the roof area where a vent pipe from a wood-burning stove located in the basement of the house passed through the eaves.
