Structure Fire - New Sewickley Township (4/12/2003)

Shortly after 8:00pm, calls began to arrive at Beaver County 911 reporting a structure fire with entrapment on Muntz Road in New Sewickley Twp. The husband and wife who lived there managed to escape with their 3-year old daughter. The father returned to the residence to search for their 18-month old daughter who was still inside. He emerged with the child and began CPR which was taken over by a Sergeant from New Sewickley Police. The child was revived and flown by Stat MedEvac to Children's Hospital where she was in critical condition with burns and smoke inhalation. The father is in serious condition with burns and smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Police Fire Marshal but preliminary reports suggest that the fire started in a kerosene tank stored in the basement.

Fire companies from Beaver and Butler County responded to fight the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control: Big Knob Station 26, Pine Run Station 59, Economy Station 69, Rochester Twp. Station 23, Zelienople Station 22, Harmony Station 23 and Harmony EMS.

Pictures were taken the next morning shortly after 8am.
